Link Drop for Saturday, September 5, 2009. Last Update: 12:16 PM ET

While this week may have seemed kind of slow news wise, there were a number of themes that I picked up on that suggest that they could keep popping up till the end of the year. There’s info flow in all it’s multiple ways and the politics that play out when that information is distributed. It’s a no brainer that people like looking at images, but how people find... Read More

WWF strongly condemns unauthorized ad campaign while it wins awards?!?

I don’t think there’s a lot to be said for spec work except when 1. the client didn’t actually ask for it, (It is starting to appear that WWF Brazil did approve of the ad) 2. was offensive and 3. was thought highly enough by peers to be awarded “Merit”. You can read WWF’s press release of the unauthorized ad campaign at www.worldwildlife.org/who/media/press/2009/WWFPresitem13540.html It’s... Read More

Link Drop (8·28·09)

This week’s collection of stuff that I’ve found interesting via Link Drop contains a lot of new themes. There’s stuff about smell, flowers and even Whole Foods. Apple makes it’s usual appearance, though in a more positive light. I also seem to be listening to a lot of personal stories via podcasts and interviews. Hopefully if it’s raining where you... Read More

Double issue of Link Drop (8·14·09) & (8·21·09)

This week’s version of Link Drop was a week late and while I hate excuses there’s a pretty good one. Last weekend I was redesigning the format of Link Drop when my computer stopped working. I wasn’t exactly happy about that so I decided I’d continue finding good stuff on the web to remember and keep working on the design when I got my computer back. It’s... Read More

Company Deal Announcements

A positive sign that the economy might soon be moving upwards is the energy generated after some of the recent tech mergers. It was only a couple weeks ago that Amazon and Zappos mentioned their deal. Yesterday Facebook and Friendfeed let the world know about their coming together. While I’ll leave it to the bank analysts to predict what future earnings these mergers... Read More

Link Drop (8·07·09)

It’s been a bit of an up and down week over here at DesignNotes. I’ve been under the weather of most of the week which is highly unusual, and on the flip side the weather outside has been actually pretty decent. In more relatable Link Drop news, I found that the sites I spent time with has a lot of personal expressing in them. There’s a bunch of interviews, process... Read More

Plastic Prius Flowers

I’ve been thinking about how I wanted to describe how ugly the Flatiron building has gotten since Toyota invaded the area with their plastic Prius flowers. I guess part of me is surprised I haven’t come across anyone mentioning them yet as a story in itself. I could lament how this kind of corporate ownership of public space is ridiculous, but I suspect we all know... Read More

Link Drop (7·31·09)

This week’s version of Link Drop has a healthy does of me at the beginning. When I read about other bloggers and their exploits, sometimes I think it’s cool to see, other times perhaps not. So if you’re in the perhaps not camp, please scroll quickly to link #4. Overall I came across a bit of everything, there’s lot’s of publishing stuff, both online... Read More

Link Drop (7·17·09) & (7·24·09)

This week’s Link Drop is a double issue as I was preoccupied with being in SF last Friday. For this post I combined the best of what I found in the last 14 days. The biggest surprise for me was that I didn’t mention the iPhone, Apple or Google once. In their corporate place was Amazon and Zappos—no big surprise considering their news this week. There were quite a... Read More

Link Drop (7·10·09)

July is here and with that comes the Tour de France. I’ve found a number of bike and tour related stuff that is shows the sport in perhaps a slightly different light then most people are used to reading about. There were a number of process pieces that I didn’t connect directly though on a second look might warrant it. There’s behaviour process, big question process... Read More
