I read the preview copy they had and I printed it out to read on the train. I do like the information graphics created based on the designers responses. I thought that was really unique and interesting.

I know that in the end I'll buy the physical book. I feel though its a great idea to sell a pdf version of the book, I would end up deleting it off my desktop or not be able to find the pdf when I would need to reference it.

You make a great observation about the importance of a portfolio over a blog or reputation. I think the portfolio will always have it's place (definitely less-so offline, however) but by combining a solid range of work with an enthusiastic blog and strong reputation, the future's certainly brighter.

I wonder why certain designers sounded bitter in their responses to questions.
