Pecha Kucha New York

Just heard about Pecha Kucha New York, which is like a speed design talk. They describe it like this: each presenter is allowed 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds each – giving 6 minutes 40 seconds of fame before the next presenter is up. The line up for the next talk January 31st is as follows: Amale Andraos and Dan Wood WORK Architecture Company Afaina de Jong Afarai Hadi Ghaemi Human Rights Watch David Reinfurt Dexter Sinister Donna Wingate Precipice Alliance Peter... Read More

Yahoo Maps Mashup: Measure your running distance and save the information

Long before google attempted to create a measurement tool for their maps, Randy Troppmann created a mash up for runners using Yahoo Maps at www.runningmap.com. The navigation and his instructions have improved over time, but the real benefit to this site is the fact that you can store your routes. By saving the information you can share it with others and watch your progress. There’s also a live chat feature. My only negative remark about the site is that the green lines... Read More

What you can learn from a Super Bowl bound blog

While I could speculate on who the fanatics are behind the Da’ Bears Blog, their about section leaves it in doubt as to who the are. However Noah Brier has broken down the success of the blog in five succinct points at Super Bowl Bound, A look at the success of Da Bears Blog. Maybe he’s one of the guys behind it? Anyways, the points he makes are applicable to any blog. Noah’s observations are as follows – though be sure to go to his site to read the why’s... Read More

design-art?

I’d hate to make a habit of posting something that corresponds to every new article I read from Alice Rawsthorn published by the International Herald Tribune, but I think the timing is warranted. Her latest is titled The designer Newson teams up with Gagosian Gallery. The timing comes as Marc Newson has an opening this Thursday night at Gagosian Gallery in New York. The article itself gives a decent overview of how this design-art has come to be, and the predecessing social... Read More

Just got back from Likemind held at sNice in New York. Like all the events that I’ve been to with this Likemind, the mix of people were friendly and had a lot of things going on. I’ve also posted some flickr pics HERE.  Read More

Reading and watching on your iPod, are these really digital magazines?

There’s been a couple photo applications on the video iPod that have challenged the idea of reading magazines. The first that I became aware of was Tiger (btw the cover image has a semi nude women on it, so use your own discretion) – a screen based art magazine that has started to transfer their content for an iPod download. It’s never been a printed publication so the experimentation is a natural evolution. On the more commercial side there’s Perooz.com... Read More
