Shooting the Landscape

Mannydiller has been capturing images of the phoenix sub/urban landscape and posting them to flickr since March of 2005. Wondering about the motivation for such a quest, I asked him why. “Simply because I wanted to do with phoenix what Eugene Atget did with Paris” Mannydiller mentions through e-mail. Continuing “it’s morphed into much more now and sometimes feels like I’m trying to wring the deepest mysteries out of these suburbanscapes”. Maybe that’s why I find them so interesting too.

There’s a flickr place group that you can follow the larger scale of what mannydiller is doing at www.flickr.com/groups/place
