I’ve posted a number of images from the “Seeing the World of Sound, the cover art of folkways records” opening at the FAB Gallery, University of Alberta, Edmonton that I attended. I’ll be posting a review of my thoughts from the exhibition next week.

Below is the e-mail I sent to Sue Colberg about the design of the show.
I just wanted to send you a short e-mail to mention how much I enjoyed the Cover Art of Folkways Records collection on display last night in the FAB Gallery at the U of A. Until last week, I was unaware of the legacy that Folkways Records had or that there was even a Smithsonian Folkways Recordings. As I explored the exhibition last night, I was struck by the energy of the covers and what they represented. The captions were helpful and I learned a thing or two about design along the way.
I was happy to purchase the book that represented the show as I left. Books like this are extremely important, not just as an ephemeral souvenir but as a resource that can referenced afterwards. The design, layout and pace of the book was dignified and managed to represent the heart of the collection I saw. Great job on the design Sue.
