Floating around Manhattan

For many years now I’ve had the tradition of going to the top of the Empire State Building on New Year’s Day to focus for the upcoming year. It gives me a chance to reflect on the past year and for what’s ahead. Taking a boat around Manhattan may have started a halfway checkpoint during the year. On a calm summer night I floated around Manhattan with my girlfriend Peggy. The weather was pretty close to perfect. There was no humidity, the water was calm and the sun was setting on the city. We headed south from 23rd street, past the Statue of Liberty and turned around under the Brooklyn Bridge. As the city passed by from various angles I was reminded how fortunate I’ve been for the past year between relationships, work and personal health. The remainder of the year for me is about to go into hyper speed as fall approaches so it was a welcome reset.
